What is Merino wool?

It is wool sourced from Merino sheep. Their wool is naturally engineered to help them survive extreme climates. The fiber’s crimp traps body heat in the winter, while its breathability releases heat in the summer, meaning that it’s suitable for all seasons.

It’s both moisture-wicking & hydrophilic.   The inner core of the fiber is hydrophilic (water-attracting) and absorbs sweat before it condenses into liquid on your skin, preventing that clammy feeling. Then it wicks that moisture to the outer layer of the fabric where it evaporates into the air.

Bonus fact: Merino can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture before it starts to feel damp.

It's odor-resistant

It is naturally antimicrobial. It absorbs and locks away odor-causing bacteria so you can wear garments multiple times without washing.

Finer and smoother than traditional wool

...meaning that it resists felting and doesn’t have the scratchiness that we tend to associate with wool, so it doesn’t feel itchy (unless you have very sensitive skin).

Insulates even when it’s damp

Unlike cotton, which becomes heavy and cold when wet, merino keeps its structure and continues to insulate even after absorbing sweat or getting caught in the rain.
